You will NOT be able to register your child, if at least one parent or guardian has not fulfilled this requirement.

Pre-Novice Program

The Simcoe Minor Hockey Pre-Novice program is centered around the idea
"Hockey For The Fun Of It" It is intended to teach the fundamental skills
necessary to enjoy participating in Canada?s sport for years to come.

We accept any and all skill levels in the pre-Novice programs and have three
distinct programs to ensure your child?s successful introduction to Hockey:

1.     Discovery:  This program is designed for first timers. The primary
focus is learning to skate and teaching the basics of the game, Skate, Pass,
Shoot. Our players are typically 3 to 5 year olds who are learning to skate
and play hockey.  One ice time per week on Saturday mornings throughout the
season. Birth Years 2015-2016

2.     Initiation (IP): This program is typically for second year players or
those who have the ability to skate forwards on their own. Age guidelines

are 4-6 years old. Players do not have to be strong skaters. We are on the
ice two times per week and start to participate in cross ice games amongst
our own teams and surrounding centres after Christmas. Birth Years 2013-2014

3.     Minor Novice (Formerly Tyke): This program is your child's first introduction to team hockey
with all of the rules. Typical players are 7 year olds in their third
year of hockey who have the ability to skate forwards and backwards and have
the ability to stop and maneuver (turn). These players will be on the ice 2
to 3 times per week including fun games with other centers throughout the
season. Birth Year 2012
