Submitted By Mark Stephens on Wed 11 09, 22
Norfolk Minor Hockey Association in cooperation with Port Dover, Simcoe, and Waterford Minor Hockey Associations are pleased to announce Select hockey programming. These Select teams will be administered by Norfolk Minor Hockey having rosters with players from partnering Local League centers.

The Select program offers players in Local League an opportunity to participate in additional exhibition games and practices at a level between Local League and Representative hockey.

FAQ

When are Select evaluation skates?
The Select evaluation schedule will be posted to the Norfolk Minor Hockey website after local league memberships have been canvassed to determine interest in programming at various age divisions.

Will there be a Select team in my division?
Select teams will operate as long as coaches can be identified, there are enough interested players at evaluation skates, and ice time can be secured for practices and exhibition games.

What is the time commitment for Select?
Select teams can participate in no more than 4 practices and 1 home game in a month, however, the number of practices and games will be dependent upon Local League schedules and the ability to secure required ice time. Select teams may also enter tournaments throughout the season, provided attendance does not conflict with Local League commitments.

Who does the Select team play?
Select teams participate in exhibition games set up by the team's coaching staff. They do not participate in a league.

Are there extra costs associated with Select?
There will be additional costs to cover ice time, uniforms, and tournament entry fees. This cost is set by the coach based on the specific program and will be communicated to the parents during the evaluation process.

What if a Select game is scheduled for the same time as a Local League game?
A player's commitment to their Local League team takes priority over their Select team (an OMHA regulation). A player put in the position to choose between their Local League and their Select commitments MUST choose the Local League team.
