NORFOLK COUNTY CAO ASKS US ABOUT USER FEES; WE REPLIED
Submitted By Martin Jefferson on Sat 10 24, 20
On October 5, 2020 Arena Users received a letter from Norfolk County CAO, Jason Burgess seeking our input on future changes to Ice Rental Rates in Norfolk County.

A copy of this letter has been posted here for your review: Norfolk_County_Ice_Users_Letter

The collective reply of the associations of Norfolk, Waterford, Simcoe and Port Dover is

is posted here for your review:  Minor_Hockey_Reply_to_Norfolk_County_-_User_Fees_-October_20_2020

Our associations also reached out and shared our opinions with Delhi, Langton, our local Girls Association (the Herricanes) and our Adult Hockey Leagues.

The recent response from the NBC Wednesday Night Hockey League is post here: NBC_Wednesday_Night_Hockey_League_Reply_to_Norfolk_-_User_Fees_Letter

Statement from your Boards:

“As you know, we continued to advocate for the need for local arenas and their continued presence as a community fixture. They are part of the local community fabric and contribute immensely to our rural characteristic; respecting that Norfolk exists as a collection of rural communities – each with their own unique characteristics and cherished attributes. Users and community members as a whole benefit from these assets and as such they will continue to be financially supported by both. A proper balance between tax levy and user fee is an appropriate position. The conversation on this however, must start with delivering the service in a fiscally responsible way and at a level the meets user and community needs. We wish to have this conversation first, and we continue to wait for it.”

Sincerely
NMHA and its member Associations
