Norfolk Minor Hockey Team Name - Vote Update
Many thanks to all
who have taken the time to vote for our new team name. The response has been
overwhelming. In monitoring the vote over the past week, we have observed some
trends that are calling into question the validity of the vote. It has become obvious
that perhaps non members, members voting from different devices as to bypass
the cookie that is imbedded in your browser once a vote is cast and the fact
that the votes increase by large blocks at a time, call into question the
results so far. Now that we are approaching 2000 votes, which is almost 3 times
our combined membership, we must take steps to correct this issue.
We have investigated options using the current platform through MB Sports and unfortunately, the site lacks the sophistication necessary to ensure that only members vote and that they vote only one time each.
Our number one goal in all of this is to ensure that the choices made are representative of the members of Simcoe, Waterford and Port Dover Minor Hockey only. To that end, we are discarding the current voting method and employing an external tool to ensure the integrity of the voting process. You will be required to give an email address in order to vote. Please use the email address associated with your Hockey Canada registration account so that we can validate your membership.
Perhaps there is some confusion on who can cast a vote in this process. For clarity you are able to cast your vote in this process if you satisfy any of the membership criteria listed below.
-Parents or legal guardians of a child registered in any of three participating associations in the 2019-2020 hockey season.
-Any player registered in any of the three participating associations for the 2019-2020 hockey season who is 18 years or older.
-Any non parent coaches/volunteers who held a rostered position during the 2019-2020 hockey season.
-Any member of the board of directors from the three participating associations.
-Any official sponsor from the three participating associations.
-Members of the Norfolk County Referee Association for the 2019-2020 season
All members are permitted to vote once. The only exception to this rule would be in the case where a parent of a child is also an official sponsor. In these cases two votes will be permitted.
