Simcoe Arms Tournament for Breast Cancer

March 19-22, 2026


  1. This tournament shall be played under OMHA, OHF and HC rules. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to make decisions regarding the interpretation of the rules and all decisions by the committee are final.

  2. House league and local league teams are only permitted to play in the tournament. No select or roster select teams are allowed.

  3. REGISTRATION - All teams must register in person at least one hour before their first scheduled game. REGISTRATION WILL BE AT TALBOT GARDENS ONLY. Approved team rosters, including any rosters required for additional bench staff, and travel permits, must be uploaded into the tournament website, or emailed to the Tournament Director prior to March 6th. 

  4. All teams are asked to be ready to play 15 min before their scheduled game time in case start times are ahead of schedule. There is no player sign in.

  5. The team designated as Home Team in each tournament game will be required to change jerseys, should a colour conflict arise. All teams should therefore have two sets of jerseys available for use. The Tournament Committee will resolve conflicts.

  6. Arena facilities and dressing rooms are under the care of team officials and these officials will be held responsible for any damage, abuse and team conduct that occurs during time of use. NO FOOD IS PERMITTED IN THE DRESSING ROOMS!

  7. All tournament games will be 10-10-10 stop-time, with overtime being played in the semi- final and championship games only. A 2-minute warm up is allowed per game. If there is a 5 goal spread in the 3rd period, the clock will run. Once running time starts, the only time the clock stops is for an injury or if the goal spread goes back to 4.

  8. All preliminary round games ending in a tie will result in a 3-player simultaneous shootout, predetermined prior to each game. A sudden victory shootout will occur after the 3 player shootout is completed, until a winner is declared. All players must be used in the shootout. Repeat shooters are not allowed until the roster has been completed. Any player serving a penalty during regulation time is not allowed to participate in the shootout.

  9. Points will be awarded as follows: 3 points for a regulation win, 2 points for a shootout win, 1 point for a shootout loss, 0 points for a loss.

  10. In the event of a tie in points upon completion of the regular scheduled games, the tie breaking procedure will be as follows:

• Head to Head

• Number of wins

• Goals scored minus goals against

• Fewest goals allowed

• Most periods won

• Fewest penalty minutes

• First goal scored

• Most goals scored

• Flip of a coin

  1. Semi Final and Championship Games

  • One 30 second timeout will be allowed per team per game in semis and finals only.

  • Home Team for Semi Final and Championship games will be decided by the team with the most Points. If tied, rule 10 applies. 

  • Tied Semi Final and Championship games will be played sudden victory in the following manner:

    • A 5-minute stop time, sudden victory overtime period will be played with 3 skaters plus a goalie. If still tied after 5 minutes, a shootout will determine the winner. A 3-player shootout, predetermined prior to each game, sudden death after till winner (Shootout players are not to be repeated until all players have been used - if need be) Any player serving a penalty during regulation is not allowed to participate in the shootout.

  1. Please be familiarized with rule Rule 4.8 Game Ejection & Game Misconduct Penalties a, b (i & ii) and c, within Hockey Canada Playing Rules.

  2. Decisions of the referees are final, but any disputes will be settled by the Tournament Director and Referee in Chief.

  3. Tournament format: The Tournament Director reserves the right to change the format of the tournament should it be deemed necessary.

  4. Rules are subject to change. The final version will be posted at each arena.
