Peewee AE Ties Caledonia 3-3
At Wednesday nights home game, Simcoe Warriors Peewee AE played well.
For the second game in a row, Simcoe opened the scoring. After some hard work in the corners by our forwards, we got lucky when Jeryn Shortt spun around and threw a shot on net. The puck hit Braydyn Dempsey in the foot and went in for the first goal of the game.
After a tripping penalty by our team, our defensive end play became sloppy and we couldn't get the puck out of our end. This led to a goal by Caledonia with 3.:27 left in the first period.
The only goal scored in the second period was by Owen Bennett. After some digging in the corner by Josh Curado, Owen was able to score to make it 2-1.
The third period opened with us on the penalty kill, and unfortunately we were unable to kill it off and Caledonia tied it 2-2 only 23 second into the period. We were able to take the lead a few minutes later on a goal by Reed VanDenelsen. Assists went to Harry Koop and Jeryn Shortt.
A missed assignment in the neutral zone led to Caledonia scoring with 2:59 left in the game. Both teams managed to shut each other down and escape with a tie.
After back to back good results, we now head into the St. George tournament this weekend. Hoping for the same kind of effort from this team.
